For the purposes of development of cruise tourism in Nizhegorodsky region and Povolzhye it is planned to create a cruise infrastructure in large tourist centres of Nizhegorodsky region and assistance in realization of an investment project on building of cruise ships of the new type "class river". In order to create a modern material base of the Russian cruise fleet for leading Nizhegorodsky tourist operators involved in river cruises (The joint - stock company “Gamma”) it is planned to build cruise ships "Golden Ring" class "river".
The reasons for the actuality of the project are on the one hand, deterioration of the existing cruise fleet (mainly ships are 40-50 years old, in 15-20 years there will be complete wearing out of the ships and the question will arise as to further perspective of development of cruise tourism in Russia), on the other hand - shallow rivers. The demand for new ships exists at both internal and external markets.
It can sail along rivers with limited depths and winding channels, under bridges in Moscow (this helps to arrange routes of the type "around the world" or "golden horse shoe" along Oka, Volga and Moscow canals). Taking into account shallow rivers the project becomes more acute with every year;
Introduction of new motor-steering complex using paddle wheels allows increasing control, maneuverability and stability of the ship during the cruise, possibility of letting the passengers out even in the absence of an equipped shore;
Comfort and modern equipment of accommodation, low noise level and presence of balconies for passengers creates additional advantages;
High economy of the ship, smaller freight-carrying capacity, large speed, smaller ecological payload make this ship more profitable in relation to analogue projects of foreign manufacturing;
Cost of shipbuilding in Russia is 30% cheaper than abroad (there are no expenses to cover tax duties and cheaper labour).
The ship "Golden Ring" represents a four-deck liner, with passenger capacity for 200 people (tourist class) and for 130 people (VIP class) with several unique peculiarities:
Cost of building of one ship is USD 10-15 million (depending on decoration and equipment). Term of building - 2 years. Term of compensation - 8-10 years. Gross annual profit from exploitation of a ship will be approximately 600-800 thousand Euros. Project-estimate documentation is at an assimilation and agreement stage. Assistance in realization of this investment project represents a very important meaning for the region.
As a result of realization of the above project it is possible to obtain:
Amount of orders for the next 5 years approximately USD 100 million;
Full capacity of Nizhegorodsky shipbuilding plants;
Creation of approximately 200 working places to build ships;
On purchase of the ships by Nizhegorodsky tourist operators for organization of cruise programmers from Nizhny Novgorod amount of services will increase from one ship up to USD 1200000 and amount of working places up to 250 employees (ratio: min. 50 persons for 1 ship).
