The Kerzhenets is one of the most beautiful rivers in Russia. You’ll be delighted with sandy beaches and groves of purple willow, quiet and absence of people in the wonderful fur and birch forests, abundance of berries and mushrooms, and of course, good fishing. Only 300 years ago the region was wild and runaway peasant hid themselves in from the church and authorities in its dense forests among the marshes. Numerous Raskolniks’ settlements and small churches were formed in the forests near the Kerzhenets and the Lynda. It goes without saying that traveling on the Kerzhenets will be exciting. The people always called the river “the fantastically beautiful Kerzhenets”. Travelers, fishermen and lovers of nature say simultaneously: “Those who have seen the Kerzhenets leave their hearts there”. You are strongly advised to make sure of it.

The group of travelers goes by bus from Nizhny Novgorod to the village of Bidreevka to start your trip. While traveling the tourists will see the beauty of the Kerzhenets reserve, abandoned villages of old believers and will visit the Makarevsky Convent.

The trip ends in the village of Makariyevo, and the group returns to Nizhny Novgorod.
