You can see the whole view of the small town of Vorsma on 60 km of the road from Nizhniy Novgorod from the mountain that is situated on the bank of the Kishma river (12,9 thousand people population). At the entrance to the town to the left of a line the lake Toskanka (nature sanctuary) is visible. On the island there are the ruins of Troizky monastery operated in XVII-XIX.
The settlement Vorsma exists at least from XVI century. The name has a Finno-Ugric origin and means "the wood ground". In 1926 Vorsma received the status of a working settlement, in 1955 it became a town. Since XVI11 century it has become a significant center of tanning, soap-producing and, in particular, - metalwork crafts. Manufacturing of knives, scissors, surgical tools, tablewares, cold steel weapon glorified the town all over Russian empire. On the basis of historically developed enterprises there arose also modern ones medical-tool factory and a factory of penknives. The leader of a weapon craft today is the Factory of penknives «Saro» (831-71 6, a fax. 6-55-30).
On the road to Pavlovo Vorsma is passed from the end in the end on the main street carrying a name of Lenin. In the town centre there is a unique large crossroad near the bus station (ph. 7 46 33). If there to turn to the right, through 20 km it is possible to appear in the smallest town of the area, in the ancient Gorbatov. The city is located on a picturesque high bank which abruptly bends the Oka. The outskirts of the town are known as recreational district, in this district there are some health resorts.
